Relax, shop and celebrate in The Linnaeus Garden

Relax, shop & celebrate

The Linnaeus Garden is the place to find peace and silence in the middle of the busy town centre. The garden and the directors lodge are gems to all garden lovers as well as historians.

Due to the building of new visitor center there will be neither a museum shop or otudoor seating area in the garden in the end of the summer of 2023. There are many nice coffehouses and restaurants in the blocks surrounding the garden, though.

The orangery is the perfect venue for private or business events in a historic environment.

Restaurants at The Linnaeus Garden

Café Carl von Linné across Svartbäcksgatan usually have tables in the Linnaeus Garden. As their customer you are welcome. Due to the construction of a new visitor center the seating area is closed 2023. The café area re-opens 1 May 2024.

Café Carl von Linné serve fika and lunch.

Celebrate in a historic environment

The Orangery in the Linnaeus Garden may be hired for special occasions throughout the year. Weddings, disputation parties, birthdays and business events can all be held here.

During the 18th century, when Carl Linnaeus’ was director of the Garden, the building was used as an orangery.

Flowery gifts and Linnaeus' writings

In the museum shop of the Linnaeus Garden you will will find cards, posters and gifts with motifs from Olof Rudbeck’s and Carl Linnaeus’s days as well as works of contemporary Swedish botanical illustrators. We provide seeds, insect houses, and much more if you want to increase the biodiversity in your garden. In the Linnaeus Garden shop, we stock literature about Carl Linnaeus and his science.

The shop in the Linnaeus Garden is temporarily closed due to rebuilding. It will hopefully open in September 2023, and will be open during the normal opening hours of the Garden.
