The first botanical garden in Sweden, founded in 1655, brought Linnaeus to Uppsala in the 1700s. In the garden he developed and refined a new classification of the plant kingdom—the sexual system. His method of naming plants and animals, the binary nomenclature, is used all over the world. The garden still houses more than 1000 of the species Linnaeus cultivated in the garden. Welcome on the guided tour in the footsteps of Linnaeus!
